Norway fjord Travel in 8 Days – Full guide Trip

8 Days in norway fjord travel Full guide

Norway is a huge country that you can probably walk in for a month, so we chose a very limited area, relatively also more touristy, the fjords, and a little inland to the Voss area and the Norheimsund area.

 facts About Travelling norway

Travel to Norway is an expensive country, the attractions are very expensive, the food (even in the supermarket) is at a high level .

Driving in “norway fjord travel” is not easy, at least in the area we walked in which is the fjords and a bit in, the maximum driving speed on all roads was 80 km / h, very frustrating that journeys that are supposed to take 40 minutes take more than an hour due to road complexity and ferry crossings.

On the other hand, you will not find the view on the road anywhere in Europe, not even in Austria.

Due to the cost of the attractions, our trip in Norway focused mostly on treks and nature attractions, we did 2 small stars while first we slept in a cabin in a holiday village,

and in the second we rented a huge house (we were 2 families totaling 10 people).

The Norwegians speak excellent English, and are really very happy to help, at a level that has been approached from time to time in all sorts of places we have been and asked if we need help with navigation, comprehension, etc.

One downside to be prepared for – the shops close already at 4 or 5 pm, and there is simply no one outside anymore. In general you can drive a lot of time on the roads and not see a living soul outside.

Recommended hotel near Bergen Airport Flesland

Since we landed at night we went to sleep at the Comfort Hotel Bergen Airport which is within walking distance of the terminal, a really really great hotel.

The next day we collected the car and walked a bit in Bergen, the port area is lovely, and you can take a cable car to climb Mount Fluen and in general Bergen is a lovely city.

We then set off in the direction of Voss.  The next place to stay is a holiday village, on a hill overlooking the city.

The second accommodation is a huge house in the city area in Norheimsund.

Some attractions and nature walks we did, precisely on this trip we did not have a route that was too regulated, we knew and knew the attractions we wanted to do but we did not limit ourselves only to them.

So it turned out that we also got recommendations from locals for stunning tracks that are not on the tourist map at all and we also did more familiar attractions.

For example 4 attractions in the area in Nora Hamsund:

Walking in the gorge

Ropes Park – The company that operates it also has rafting and canyoning

Walking on a glacier – a very expensive attraction, which was only suitable for the older ones but I would not give it up

ski!  Yes yes skiing in mid-August!

Rent a small motorboat for self-driving inside the fjord

A waterfall that can be walked behind, with a neat access path

Summary

In short, fly to Norway!  Just note that after that, the landscapes of the other European countries will already show you less wow.
