Holocaust Memorial

travel to berlin A must visit site for us is the Holocaust Memorial, it is true that it is not exactly similar to Holocaust memorials around the world but it is also its uniqueness,

the monument is built from 2,711 cubic meters of cast concrete at varying heights which are scattered over a huge area.

Do not miss the visit to the memorial center which is located under the monument in the underground space.

Also worth a visit is the intimate and exciting memorial center located in the underground space below the monument.  The address is: Cora-Berliner Straße 1, 10117 Berlin

Pergamon Museum

For those who love museums, this is a must-see destination, but also for those who do not like museums, then it is recommended that you visit this amazing museum!

In the Pergamon Museum you will find everything from everything, next to an ancient Muslim collection you will find a zoological collection from the Far East,

in the museum a huge collection of items from the ancient world and the highlight is the Pergamon altar,

from the 2nd century BCE and the Babylonian Ishtar Gate from the 6th century BCE  Impressive views.  The museum is very suitable for children as well.

The Soviet Monument in Trapto Park

You all know that until the fall of the Berlin Wall in the east of the city, the Russians ruled and they specialized in building impressive monuments, the most impressive in the city is this monument.

At the monument you will meet a bronze statue of a Soviet soldier 12 meters high with a broken swastika on his foot,

it is important to know that under the soldier are buried 5000 Soviet soldiers who were killed in the battle for Berlin.

Checkpoint Charlie

Between 1961 and the wall was swollen it was the only place where you could cross between East Germany and West, at a border crossing you would be impressed by a kind of living museum .

where you would see what the citizens were trying to smuggle from one part of the city to the other.  The address is: Checkpoint Charlie.  Friedrichstraße 43-45

Lake Schlechtenza

If you get tired of the hustle and bustle of a city you are welcome to get on the train and drive about half an hour to this amazing lake, the area itself is forested and very pastoral.

Do not forget to take a swimsuit in the summer as it is highly recommended to take a dip in the cool waters of the lake alongside a sip of the excellent local beer.  If you take some bread with you then you can feed the ducks too.

Cafe Einstein

The Coffee of Berlin!  Usually the place is very busy but we still recommend waiting for a free place and tasting the apple strudel, with vanilla sauce or vanilla ice cream.

The new synagogue

The local synagogue was finally destroyed in 1958 and rebuilt in 1995.  The synagogue is very impressive and next to it you will find the Jewish center of the city.  Address: Neue Synagoge.  Oranienburger Straße 30

The old Jewish cemetery

The Germans almost completely destroyed and built a spacious park above it, but if you get there you can still see gravestones ,

and also the gravestone of Moshe Mendelssohn who was a Berlin Jewish philosopher and thinker who is considered the father of the Jewish Enlightenment movement.

Address: Alter Judischer Friedhof.  Grosse Hamburger Straße

The Jewish Museum of Berlin:

In our opinion, you must visit this museum to get to know the history of German Jews before the rise of the Nazis.  Address: Judisches Museum Berlin.  Lindenstraße 9-14

We recommend making the Berlin Welcome Card, with the help of the card you can travel on all types of public transport without a break and for free,

in addition you will not have to go travel any time to purchase tickets in the machines and it will save you a lot of time and inconvenience.

In addition, the ticket also gives a discount to many attractions in the city, the ticket costs about 40 euros.  You can buy the ticket at the airport.
